Population dynamics of pocket
gophers
My research project is the home
range, dispersal, and survival of the Ozark pocket gopher (Geomys
bursarius ozarkensis). This fossorial rodent is restricted
to Izard County, Arkansas and is considered a pest. Due to its
isolated range, pertinent information about movement patterns
needs to be studied to understand the potential for expansion of
this subspecies. In addition, I am going to be collecting
parasites and genetic material of these gophers.
