Rick McDaniel Biology Library

Research Areas

The Rick McDaniel Biology Library at Arkansas State University was founded with donations of books, periodicals, monographs, and reprints from faculty members, both emeriti and current, and dedicated on September 18, 2008.  It is located in room 119 of the Lab Sciences Building East.

The aim of this library is to provide in-house sources of references to both faculty members and students in the Department of Biological Sciences.  Books have been ordered using the Library of Congress classification and journals have been ordered alphabetically by title.  The list of the holdings of the library has been computerized and can be found at the links below.  Reprints can be located using a card catalog system in the library.

The borrowing procedures are based on the honors system.  There is a logbook in the library to borrow any material you need.  To borrow any item you need to fill out an entry that includes the Call Number, Title, your name, and date of check out; likewise when you return that material you need to complete the record of the borrowing activity by writing down the date in which you returned it.

The Department welcomes donations and will issue a receipt for them. Please be advised that if your donation is of already existing material and/or topics outside the interests of the faculty and students at the Department, they can be re-distributed in a way the Department sees fit without detriment of the recognition of your donation.

For more information about the library please contact the Department of Biological Sciences at (870) 972-3082.
