                                                                    HALL OF SCIENCE
Public Outreach

LOCATION: entrance hall of the Laboratory Science East Building

OBJECTIVE: To create a space for students where the activities being carried out at the departments of Biology and Chemistry and Physics can be showcased.

Where is the sense of urgency?: Currently that space is underutilized and gives very little idea of what kind of activities and opportunities are there for potential and/or current ASU students.  Hundreds of students walk through that hall every week including NSO students with their parents; yet, we do not convey the kinds of opportunities we offer at ASU.  Therefore we can make of that space a recruiting and retention tool.

What is the value added?: We can give students a much broader perspective of what ASU is all about, how active we are, and what kind of research opportunities we offer.  Besides that we will give a better impression to visitors of being in a place where scientific research is actually being conducted.

What is the gap in the service or need we are not providing?: (1) information about ASU activities and (2) a more attractive space for students.

What leadership is not being served by the project not being in place?: Recruitment and retention.

What will this project transform our existence?: Better image for ASU. Better recruitment and retention rates.

How will it widen out our circle of opportunity to more segments?: By showing that ASU is much more than what they have been told.

How will we make a difference with this project in place?: Since the exhibit is student-oriented and will have the results of students activities, it will create a good and lasting impression with future and current alumni, increasing support for ASU activities.
