Amphibian genetics; conservation I will be using microsatellite DNA, a DNA fingerprinting technique, to examine the population genetic structure of western slimy salamanders (Plethodon albagula) from a mineshaft in Garland Co., AR. Specifically, I will note the distribution of brooding females in the mine with regard to relatedness. I will also be evaluating the cross-species amplification of these microsatellite loci in five closely related species from western AR.
