Dr. Vanderpool’s research includes experimental investigation of the evolutionary history and reproductive ecology of closely related plant taxa, with a focus on those of special conservation concern.  As curator of the E. L. Richards Herbarium at Arkansas State University, her research activities incorporate participation in the Flora of Arkansas Project, and investigation of rare and invasive plant species at the regional level.  In addition to her work with plant conservation biology and experimental systematics, she is involved in research focused on assessment and improvement of formal and informal science education at the 4 – 16 levels.
